Tanjiro returns home to find his entire family slaughtered by a demon, with only his sister Nezuko left alive — transformed into a demon herself. Guided by Water Breathing master Sakonji Urokodaki, he begins the grueling path to become a Demon Slayer.

Tanjiro endures two years of brutal training and faces the terrifying Final Selection on Mt. Fujikasane, where he must survive against demons for seven days. He earns his black Nichirin Blade and sets out on his first missions.

Tanjiro travels to Asakusa and encounters Muzan Kibutsuji — the original demon who killed his family — for the first time. He meets the demon doctor Tamayo and her assistant Yushiro, who agree to help him find a cure for Nezuko.

Tanjiro meets the terrified but gifted Zenitsu Agatsuma and the fearless, boar-headed Inosuke Hashibira. The three enter the Tsuzumi Mansion — an estate warped by a demon's drum powers — to rescue captured children.

Inside the Tsuzumi Mansion, Tanjiro battles the Drum Demon Kyogai in his most difficult fight yet. He discovers a crucial thread connecting the demon that slaughtered his family to the Hinokami Kagura dance his father taught him.

The trio is sent to Mount Natagumo, a mountain under the control of the monstrous Spider Family demons. Inosuke and Zenitsu face deadly adversaries as Tanjiro battles the Father Spider Demon in an overwhelming fight.

Tanjiro confronts Rui — Lower Rank Five of the Twelve Kizuki — and, in desperation, instinctively uses Hinokami Kagura: Sun Breathing for the first time. The Hashira Water and Insect Pillars arrive to finish the battle.

The Hashira convene and put Tanjiro on trial for traveling with a demon. Tanjiro passionately defends Nezuko as the Flame Hashira Rengoku arrives. The trio begins intensive rehabilitation training at the Butterfly Estate.

Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke board the Mugen Train alongside Flame Hashira Rengoku. The Lower Rank demon Enmu puts all passengers to sleep, trapping their souls inside a dream while he tries to destroy their spiritual cores.

Tanjiro fights to break free from Enmu's dreamscape and protect 200 sleeping passengers. Enmu merges with the entire train as the battle escalates beyond anything Tanjiro has ever faced.

Enmu is defeated, but Upper Rank Three Akaza suddenly appears and challenges Rengoku. The Flame Hashira's final battle — and his death at dawn — leaves Tanjiro and the crew devastated and shakes the entire Corps.

After mourning Rengoku's death, Tanjiro vows to master Hinokami Kagura. Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui recruits Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke for an undercover infiltration mission in the Entertainment District.

The trio infiltrates the pleasure houses of Yoshiwara disguised as women to flush out the lurking demon. Tanjiro encounters Daki — an Upper Rank Six demon who has devoured humans for over a century.

Daki's true power is unleashed, overwhelming everyone. Her older brother Gyutaro — the real Upper Rank Six — emerges, and the battle becomes a desperate four-way fight requiring all four fighters to behead both demons simultaneously.

The simultaneous decapitation of Daki and Gyutaro is achieved through sheer teamwork and sacrifice. Tanjiro arrives at the Swordsmith Village to repair his blade, meeting Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji.

Upper Rank Five Gyokko and Upper Rank Four Hantengu attack the Swordsmith Village. Tanjiro fights Hantengu's emotion-based clones while Muichiro battles Gyokko. Nezuko shocks everyone by awakening resistance to sunlight.

Tanjiro unlocks the full power of Sun Breathing and defeats Hantengu. Nezuko's ability to withstand sunlight sends shockwaves through Muzan's forces and signals the beginning of the end.

The Hashira Training arc begins as the Corps prepares for the final war. Demons launch a coordinated attack on the Ubuyashiki estate, and Muzan himself appears. Kagaya triggers a desperate last gambit, pulling Muzan into the Infinity Castle.

The Infinity Castle arc begins as all Demon Slayers are swallowed into Muzan's crumbling maze. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are separated and must each locate and defeat Upper Rank demons in the ever-shifting corridors.

Battles rage across the Infinity Castle. Upper Rank Two Doma is destroyed by Kanao and Inosuke. Upper Rank One Kokushibo — revealed as Yoriichi Tsugikuni's twin brother — falls to the combined might of Mist, Stone, and Wind Hashira.

Akaza, Upper Rank Three, faces Tanjiro and Giyu in a brutal battle. Tanjiro finally decapitates Akaza using the Transparent World technique. The surviving Demon Slayers converge on Muzan for the final battle.

All remaining Demon Slayers fight Muzan Kibutsuji in a relentless final battle stretching through the night. Tanjiro is killed during the fight but is resurrected by Muzan's cells — beginning to transform into a demon himself.

Tanjiro, now a demon, is brought back by Kanao's wisteria medicine. The sun rises, destroying Muzan at last. A peaceful epilogue depicts the reincarnations of Tanjiro, Nezuko, and their friends living joyful lives in a modern era.
